Dodecatheon hedersonii (shooting star)

Paradise creek, Sierra Nevada CA, USA, April 7, 2010

When I first saw the flowers of Dodecatheon, the very evening that we camped with my friend George on the second Sierra camp on our way to the Sequoia park, I thaugh they were already wizen. The next day, under better light conditions, I realized they were just like that, honoring their common name of 'shooting stars'.
