This beutiful Orchis is called in Greek "Satyriskos", meaning small Satyre. Undoubtedly ancient Greeks did n't need much imagination to see such a figure on each flower of the plant.
I only would correct that it is a "winged satyriskos"! :-)

These beuatiful irises are dedicated to my friend Yannis, who spotted them while driving on Parnitha and he was so kind to stop for me to make pictures. Sometimes I have the impression that my wildflower mania becomes viral!
